Title: One Day Implant. The evolution of immediate implant placement – Șef Lucrări dr. Hajaj Tareq

Dr. Tareq Hajaj is Lecturer of Propedeutics and Dental Materials at UMF “Victor Babes” Timisoara. In 2017 he became a specialist in dento-alveolar surgery, and in 2018 he obtained his PhD in medical sciences after a 4-year research focused on oral implantology, defending his thesis entitled “Interdisciplinary approaches to the interface between implant and dental bone”. Author of several national and international scientific articles and publications, he is the president of the international educational and research organization MINEC on the Western area of Romania; member of the Digital Dentistry Society Romania and the Academy of Dental Materials USA. Private practice is carried out in his own clinic in Timisoara – “Dental Creation by Dr. Tareq Hajaj”, and is mainly based on implantology, surgery and prosthodontics.

Through continuous improvement of materials and years of clinical studies around the world, we are today able to considerably shorten treatment times without affecting its predictability.

The concept of “one day implant” refers precisely to those cases in which in the same session (or in the following 24 hours) the patient receives both the dental implant(s) and the provisional prosthetic restoration. Thus, the osseointegration of the implants will take place while they are in function, from the very first day.

What does this mean for the patient? Fewer surgeries, less time until delivery of the final restoration, immediate compliance of adjacent tissues and maximum comfort throughout the treatment.

There are, however, still opinions and/or myths that have been perpetuated over the years that immediate loading is particularly risky, or even should be avoided altogether. These theories can be easily debunked by recent literature, and this presentation will present the newest and most predictable operative protocols for each clinical situation.

Obviously, this approach – like any other – is not suitable for every case, treatment plans must always be individualized, taking into account all clinical variables.
