Partial edentulism is a pathological condition of the dento-maxillary system, caused by the loss of one or more teeth, which is increasingly common in Romanian patients.
The lecture addresses theoretical and practical aspects of oral rehabilitation in partially edentulous patients, emphasizing the use of cast metal framework partial denture. These prostheses represent both a functional and esthetic treatment solution for patients who, due to general health conditions and/or medication treatments, are contraindicated to surgical intervention for implant-prosthetic treatment.
The first part presents the causes of partial edentulism, the associated manifestations of tooth loss and their impact on the patient’s oral and general health.
In the central section of the presentation, on the basis of two clinical cases, the stages of realization of cast metal framework partial denture are covered. Thus, the attached images show the complexity of the treatments, which combine fixed and removable prosthetics.
The final part of the paper highlights the advantages and post-treatment indications of using removable dentures. This treatment method improves the stability, comfort and retention of the denture, with patients reporting a considerable improvement in the functions of the dento-maxillary system, as well as an improvement in facial aesthetics, allowing for optimal integration into the oral cavity.
