Title: The implications of phytotherapy in the management of periodontal diseases
The hypothesis of the study is: Are herbal oral products (mouthwash, toothpaste, gel, chips) effective in patients diagnosed with periodontal disease? Phytotherapy is a branch of medicine that uses plants either to treat disease or as health promoting agents. Depending on certain compounds, plants have different roles: anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antihyperglycemic, antifungal and antiedematous. The main purpose of the scientific work carried out is to present the importance of phytotherapy as an adjunctive treatment in the management of periodontal diseases. One of the objectives of this study is to demonstrate the properties of plants on the periodontium. The presented studies confirmed that plant materials could be successfully used in the management of periodontal diseases. Oral care products based on these plant substances significantly improved the recorded parameters.
